How it works

Call. Schedule. Done.

01

Call

Call now or send a request. Name the town and the job — pumping, repair, a sale inspection, a drain field, or a new system.

02

Schedule

We confirm the town, the job, and a time that works. Mark urgent if sewage is in the house or a closing cannot wait.

03

Done

The visit is booked. Pumping, repair, inspection, or field work gets on the calendar.

The flats

What does the ground under Arizona City do to a leach field?

The Santa Cruz Flats are almost level agricultural land. Cotton, forage, and fallow fields surround the houses.

  • Soils on the flats are young flood deposits — sand, silt, clay, and sandy loam — with little profile development.
  • Level silt-and-clay patches, sometimes called playacitas, have hardpan clay bottoms that pond instead of draining.
  • A trench field that looked fine in May can surface after July storms or after a neighbor flood-irrigates.
  • The Santa Cruz Wash cuts the east side of the flats; shallow groundwater and storm overflow shrink the vertical separation ADEQ wants under a disposal field.
Drain-field trouble, not just a full tank, is the job that shows up most on Arizona City acreage.

District vs tank

How is housing laid out between Battaglia, Kashmir, and the open flats?

No city hall

Arizona City is unincorporated. People describe lots by roads: Battaglia Drive and Sunland Gin Road meet at the signalized intersection; Henness Road runs north toward the Casa Grande Mountains.

90 miles of gravity sewer

The Sanitary District, formed May 27, 1968, runs about 90 miles of gravity sewer, two lift stations, and a plant at 12922 S. Kashmir Road — the southwest corner of Battaglia and Kashmir. Mains were first laid in the mid-1960s.

Water bill ≠ sewer

Drinking water is a separate utility — Arizona Water Company has an Arizona City division — so a water bill does not tell you whether sewage leaves through a District lateral or a tank.

Book the right job

Which septic service should an Arizona City owner request first?

  • If wastewater is backing up or the yard smells after a storm, ask for drain-field service and a pump-out together.
  • If the house is under contract, start with the sale inspection; the rule already expects the tank to be pumped unless a listed exception applies.
  • Vacant land without a District main needs a full site investigation and install, not a reused tank from another lot.
  • If a main is already in front of the parcel, call the Sanitary District before you spend money on perc holes.
More Arizona City septic notes

The Sanitary District’s plant is permitted to discharge treated effluent to the Santa Cruz Wash, to recharge ponds, to the golf course, and to farm irrigation. Gravity mains and laterals concentrate around the older streets and the golf course that receives Class B+ reclaimed water from the plant.

Pinal County’s site investigation looks for the water table, for an impervious layer, and for absorption slower than two-tenths of a gallon per day per square foot. Any of those limiting conditions can push a lot from a conventional Type 4.02 system to an alternative unit.

Step a few blocks toward the fields and the pattern changes. One-acre and larger parcels still use tanks. Additions, shops, and extra bedrooms were often added without enlarging the original tank. Closings here still trigger Arizona’s transfer inspection. Many Arizona City sellers have never seen a permit. Lids hide under gravel, and the field may sit under a later carport.

For a tank that just needs sludge removed, use pumping. Cracked lids and missing baffles on older concrete tanks are repair jobs. Say “Arizona City” on the form rather than naming the nearest city on the interstate — the soils and the sewer rules change between this community, Eloy, and Casa Grande.

Arizona City septic questions

Does Arizona City have sewer, or is everyone on a tank?

Both exist. Arizona City is unincorporated, so there is no city hall and no municipal sewer department. The Arizona City Sanitary District, formed May 27, 1968, operates about 90 miles of gravity sewer, two lift stations, and a treatment plant at 12922 S. Kashmir Road — the southwest corner of Battaglia Drive and Kashmir Road. Lots next to those mains are supposed to use sewer. Parcels the mains never reached still use on-site systems permitted by Pinal County.

Why do Arizona City drain fields struggle after a wet monsoon?

The community sits on the Santa Cruz Flats, a nearly level sedimentation basin of flood-deposited sand, silt, and clay. Level silt-and-clay surfaces here can pond because water sits on hardpan clay instead of soaking. When the Santa Cruz Wash runs or neighboring farmland is irrigated, a trench field has less unsaturated soil left for household effluent. Resting the field and pumping the tank is the first step; some lots later need an alternative design.

Can I install a new septic tank if a sewer main is already in the street?

Usually no. District code makes it unlawful to construct or maintain a septic tank or similar private facility except as the code allows, and it requires a connection when a public sewer is within 300 feet of the building. Vacant parcels adjacent to a main have been charged an availability fee since 1995. Confirm with the District whether your parcel is in the collection area before you pay for a soil test.

Are manufactured homes treated differently for septic work?

The tank and field still have to meet Pinal County and ADEQ rules. What changes is access: skirting, additions, and carports often sit over lids or lines. Note that the home is manufactured so the visit includes lids, locates, and pumping equipment that can work in a tight side yard.
